ABOUT VERNITA LEINS
Vernita Leins has been writing since before she knew the alphabet…she remembers drawing lines and scribbles on paper at the age of one or two…and, yes, in her eyes those lines and scribbles told a story…
At the age of eight or nine she was writing three and four line poems…throughout her school years, English was always her favorite subject remembering the days of diagramming sentences and delving into the rules of grammar and punctuation…a skill she has lost over the years, due to poetic license and being mesmerized by the artistic quality of e e cummings, and now having to reclaim that knowledge…
Throughout her lifetime, Vernita has wandered the road “less taken,” which has led her into different directions with their meandering streams of discovery, introspection, challenges, and life changes…journaling became a time of self-exploration – writing to hear and to express the hidden mysteries of the subconscious as well as those swirling moments of awe, as the beauty of wonderment encompasses it all…

With several stories, poems, and a book sitting patiently on the shelves or mired in the recesses of computer I's and O's, she has not followed through on publishing until Josie, her yellow Lab, insisted that her own story be told…forced by her dog to take a deep breath and dive into the literary waters of the unknown, she co-authored with Josie their first published book, “Josie's Story – from rescue to service – a handbook with advice for dog families and potential dog families,” and for all who love dogs and now their second book, "Fostering Marcel - The Bond between Human and Animal."
What other literary works are forthcoming?...only time will tell which one will call out to have its voice heard next…an answer to which even Vernita doesn't know…she will just have to patiently wait and listen until all is revealed…

Vernita
Leins grew up on a small, family farm in Clifton, Maine…she enjoyed all the
animals and roaming the woods with her dog and mother cat...although she helped
with the gardening and harvesting, picking and shelling peas were not her
favorite pastime…along with the other children in town, she attended Clifton’s
two one room schools, graduated there from eighth grade, then went on to
graduate from Brewer High School and the University of Maine in Orono,
Maine…since then she has owned a health food store, retired from the local Girl
Scout Council, and now works as a therapeutic massage therapist, Reiki
Master/Teacher, and teaches qigong with her husband, Robert, at their QiGong
Studio in Bangor, Maine…together they live with Josie on a pond in Bradley, Maine,
where they enjoy the serenity of the area…
